WHO KILLED CELIA ELIZABETH VAN ZANTEN?

According to https://lelandhale.com/butcherbaker/wordpress/2018/07/31/beth-van-zanten-disappearance/ and https://it.findagrave.com/memorial/119381709/celia-beth-van_zanten#view- photo=251455458 , Celia Elizabeth Van Zanten vanished into thin air on December 22, 1971 while she was traveling a “Z” route from her residence at 2900 Knik Avenue to the Bi-Lo store located at 2511 W Northern Lights, also in Anchorage, Alaska, to then go babysitting at another unspecified home. Her lifeless body was found in a ravine near a McHugh Creek campsite in the hills of Chugach State Park and close to the Seward Highway near Cooper Landing. The victim was part of a Mormon family and was partially naked, then tied up and left to starve after a scarf was placed around her neck, in a typical Boston Strangler burial ritual. Letting the girl die of starvation would then be repeated in other victims, see for example Yara Gambirasio. Celia that evening had watched the film “The Whole World Is Watching” of 1969, directed by Richard A. Colla (source: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065211/?ref_=tt_mv_close ). In the 2000s Raymond Pettibon would later re-release DVDs of the film at the link https://www.amazon.it/Whole-World-Watching-Weatherman-69/dp/0976134446 , presenting that the films with characters played by Burl Ives, Joseph Campanella and James Farentino recall the meetings between the SDS (Students For A Democratic Society), the Weatherman terrorists and pop celebrities such as Jane Fonda and John Lennon. Well established in the art world, Pettibon had already dealt with the stories relating to the gang of Charles Manson and the terrorist Patty Hearst in the Symbionese Liberation Army, events in which Othello, who belonged to the SDS, was widely involved (source: Hank Brewster). The phrase that carries the title of the film was coined by students protesting the Vietnam War outside the Conrad Hotel Hilton in Chicago, originally born as the Stevens Hotel. Ted Stevens was Alaska’s lead Senator at the time and Anchorage Airport was later named after him. The victim was not chosen at random, as Celia derives from “Cielo” or “Heaven – Paradise” and is also a character in “As you like it” by William Shakespeare, author of “Othello”. The reference to Celia’s murderers and to the massacre of Cielo Drive by members of the Zodiac group, George Hill Hodel included, is therefore evident. Il suo corpo è stato ritrovato privo di vita in un burrone nei pressi di un camping di McHugh Creek nella zona collinare del parco statale di Chugach e a ridosso dell’autostrada di Seward, nelle vicinanze di Cooper Landing. La vittima faceva parte di una famiglia di Mormoni ed era stata parzialmente denudata, poi è stata legata ed è stata lasciata a morire di stenti dopo averle messo una sciarpa attorno al collo, in un rituale di sepoltura tipico dello strangolatore di Boston. Il lasciare morire la ragazza di stenti si sarebbe poi ripetuto in altre vittime, vedi ad esempio Yara Gambirasio. Celia quella sera aveva guardato il film “The Whole World Is Watching” del 1969, con regia di Richard A. Colla (fonte: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065211/?ref_=tt_mv_close ). Negli anni 2000 Raymond Pettibon avrebbe poi ripubblicato dei DVD del film al link https://www.amazon.it/Whole-World-Watching-Weatherman-69/dp/0976134446 , facendo presente che i filmati con personaggi interpretati da Burl Ives, Joseph Campanella e James Farentino rievocano gli incontri fra gli SDS (Students For A Democratic Society), i terroristi dei Weatherman e celebrità pop come Jane Fonda e John Lennon. Ben inserito nel mondo dell’arte, Pettibon si  era già occupato anche poi dei racconti relativi alla banda di Charles Manson e della terrorista Patty Hearst nell’Esercito di Liberazione Simbionese, vicende in cui era ampiamente coinvolto Otello, che apparteneva agli SDS (fonte: Hank Brewster). La frase che riporta il titolo del film era stata coniata dagli studenti in protesta contro la guerra in Vietnam fuori dal Conrad Hotel Hilton di Chicago, originariamente nato col nome di Stevens Hotel. Ted Stevens era il senatore di punta dell’Alaska in quel periodo ed in seguito gli è stato dedicato l’aeroporto di Anchorage. La vittima non è stata scelta a caso, in quanto Celia deriva da “Cielo” ossia “Heaven – Paradiso” ed è anche un personaggio in “Come vi piace” di William Shakespeare, autore di “Otello”. E’ evidente quindi il riferimento agli assassini di Celia ed all’eccidio di Cielo Drive ad opera dei membri del gruppo Zodiac, George Hill (collina) Hodel incluso. Ciò spiega come mai Robert Christian Hansen non si ricordasse nulla dell’omicidio di Celia, nonostante il luogo in cui è stato trovato il corpo figurasse sulla mappa ritrovata in suo possesso, in cui le vittime da lui non riconosciute sono marchiate da cerchio e croce, il simbolo dello Zodiac Killer (fonte: https://lelandhale.com/butcherbaker/wordpress/2013/11/08/robert-hansens-flight-map/ ).
