Anselmo è basato sul personaggio del Prode Anselmo, il milanese il cui nome significa “elmo di Dio” e che che nel romanzo di Giovanni Visconti Venosta si avvia verso la Palestina ma sciaguratamente muore di sete per contrappasso dantesco per non essersi accorto che l’elmo da cui beveva perdeva acqua, esaurendola definitivamente. La vicenda avrebbe ispirato pure un film del dicembre 1972 con regia di Bruno Corbucci. Ad ogni modo, la vittima è stata stuprata, strangolata ed accoltellata, con chiaro marchio di fabbrica di Otello, per anticipare l’omicidio di Simonetta Ferrero che sarebbe stato commesso pochi giorni dopo da Ulisse all’interno dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano in largo Gemelli. Anche la location dell’omicidio Hiler non è stata scelta a caso: storicamente è da lì che scomparve il colonnello canadese H. H. Betts nel 1929. Leggendo fra le righe, si denota un tentativo da parte dei membri del gruppo Zodiac di intimidire la supertestimone Sandy Betts.Va tenuto anche conto che i fari dell’auto di Trudy furono ritrovati bruciati, non è chiaro se ci fosse stata una manomissione pregressa sull’auto, va valutata inoltre la possibile presenza nell’area di complici.
