The victim was on vacation with her family at the Ogunquit summer residence in Maine, in the Pine State, so she would hardly have accepted a ride from a stranger. She resided with her family in Joliet, Illinois and her father Peter George was the military leader of the controversial CHASE operation, aimed at illegally disposing of conventional and chemical weapons by throwing them into the ocean. Operation CHASE 10 took place during that month, the latest in a long series that aroused numerous controversies, so much so that a Kentucky newspaper had published a letter the day before with the threat of student groups to kidnap the members of the families involved in the environmental disaster. The town of Ogunquit was also linked to the sailor painter Charles Herbert Woodbury, an honorary member of the Boston Art Club and author of the Derby Wharf panel in Salem. Come in realtà nel film la vittima viene rapita dopo aver pedalato in bicicletta, si può notare quindi la conferma della presenza del Black Dahlia Avenger George Hill Hodel sulla scena del crimine. Hodel era stato residente al 5121 di Franklin Avenue a Los Angeles ed il suo principale complice (Fred Sexton) era l’esperto in strangolamenti con corda, che rappresentano la causa della morte di Mary Catherine. I pini ci riconducono invece a Lawrence Kane, ma il sequestratore che poteva entrare in contatto con la vittima era William Axel Lindahl, sempre che costui abbia insegnato alla St. Rose School oltre che alla Lake Forest Academy. La scena del crimine costeggia il fiume Mauson e si trova nei pressi della fattoria di Parsons, che porta il riferimento ad una delle famiglie fondatrici dell’Hellfire Club satanista, con Jack Parsons che era stato in seguito il capo dell’Agape Lodge dell’OTO a Pasadena, attorno a cui gravitavano Hodel, Sexton ed il loro complice Baron Ernst Von Harringa. Il corpo è stato messo occultato sotto una pila di paglia, l’alimento di cui si cibano i maiali, un termine spesso utlizzato da Hodel per indicare spregevolmente i poliziotti ma anche per indicare i compagni del marinaio Ulisse nell’Operazione Odissea. La città di Ogunquit era legata anche al pittore marinaio Charles Herbert Woodbury, membro onorario del Boston Art Club e autore del riquadro Derby Wharf a Salem. Da tenere presente anche il fatto che Jolliet era un Gesuita canadese, che ci consente quindi di collegare la morte della Olenchuk con quella di Teddy Matier.
